Solstice & Equinox Celebrations - held quarterly

For thousands of years our ancestors marked the seasons of the year with festivals. Today, gone is the sense of participation in the cyclic interaction of the earth and the cosmos. Recovery of these celebrations is more than a symbolic gesture. It can be a meaningful way to remind ourselves of the natural order of things.

Why do we dance and celebrate equinox and solstices?

Solstice and equinox celebrations provide us with the perfect opportunity to participate in deep processes of transformation in the individual and collective human psyche. These are significant markers in our earthly calendar and we come together to remember that there is something much bigger than all of us that connects us here on this earth.

By acknowledging the flows of the seasons, we can better attune with natures seasons and cycles, riding the surf instead of pulling against it. The more aware we are of the environment around us, the more in touch with the natural cycles, the closer we find ourselves to their rise and fall. We withdraw in winter to our heaters and fires; then feel the energy begin to rise again as the sun once more warms the earth in spring; and we open up again in the summer with more energy.

What can I expect at a solstice or equinox celebration?

These events include ritual in addition to guided ‘energetic processes’. Part of the evening is also spent sharing our natural talents or gifts so if you have a poem, song or dance, you are invited to share it with us.

We always celebrate by sharing food together at the end of these events.

If you have a poem, song, act or artistic voice that you would like to share as part of the seasonal celebration please contact Alena at info@organicdance.com.au.
