Full Moon Classes - held monthly
We may not be aware just when the moon is full, yet its gravitational pull affects us emotionally, hormonally; knowing in the course of the lunar tide we can use its energy beneficially instead of subconsciously fighting against it.
Moon's once a month opposition with the Sun is the high point of its cycle. When the Sun opposes the Moon we see the Full face unobstructed. Full Moon brings matters to a climax which can be chaotic or sublime. Either way, understanding and conscious awareness reaches a maximum in this stage of the lunar cycle.
The Full Moon brings intensity, heightened awareness and sometimes tension. Use the Full Moon gathering as an opportunity to learn about your own rhythms. Experiment with the effect of the Moon on your own body and its movements as the Moon moves through the twelve signs. Each month we will focus on the moon and its links to the various body parts in accordance with the zodiac.
These gatherings provide a modern day invocation - we seek to connect to nature and have meaningful ritual.
Why dance on the Full Moon?
The moon has a large impact on the human body. The Full Moon exerts maximum influence on the physical body and its fluids. The week before Full Moon literally pumps energy, as fluids rise and inner tides move towards a high. Gravitational pull and magnetic currents are maximized now, even more so at an eclipse.
The moon controls the tides (water on the planet) and in turn also affects the water in humans. Since the human body is made up of approx 70% of water*, it makes sense that the moon also affects us at these peak times. Scientific research documents that during Full Moon it’s not uncommon for humans to feel more emotional and tense as the moon affects our nervous system and hormones. *(Oregon State University)
